For several reasons, Switzerland is a particularly interesting case study for this task. The aim of this paper is to throw some empirical light on the role of these two factors via a case study of Switzerland. Yet empirical research on the effects of these two factors and their interaction on highly skilled migration is lacking. Besides expected wages and job opportunities, the costs of migration and the subjective evaluation of a location, two other factors help determine the expected net return from migration: taxes and network effects. To do so, research and management structures must investigate with farmers, the practices of legume-vegetable association that present advantages not only on soil fertility, but also on the efficient management of cultivated space. With the emerging international competition to attract highly skilled migrants, the determinants of their choice of residential location are increasing in importance. Work needs to be done to improve the integration of legumes into vegetable crops systems. Conclusion and application of results: To ensure the sustainability of vegetable crops' activity in the village of Tola-Tanoukro in central Côte d'Ivoire, farmers must improve the use of chemical fertilizers and especially a good combination with organic fertilizers. On the other hand, vegetable-legumes association and long fallow are the most constraining practices. The results show that chemical or organic fertilizer, the combination of organic manure and chemical fertilizer, and peanut-vegetable rotation are the most important soil fertility management practices in terms of agricultural production according to the farmers. The data collected concerned the socio-demographic characteristics of the farmers and the soil fertilization practices of vegetable crops. Methodology and Results: A survey was conducted among 47 vegetable crops' farmers (27% of the members) of an association of about 170 members. ABSTRACT Farmers' perception of soil fertility management practices under vegetable crops in the sub-prefecture of Djébonoua in central Côte d'Ivoire Objective: This study aimed to determine the most important of soil fertility management practices under vegetable crops in terms of agricultural production and implementation constraints according to farmers in Tola-Tanoukro in central Côte d'Ivoire.
